SOUNDS

NSP+Moog

We were tipped off to the new Moog Filtatron app a few weeks ago by Chad from Rainbows are Free.

Been playing with it ever since and think it is one of best sounding apps yet. Even clean it sounds warm and clear.

First note best note. Here is a little guitar played through the FX unit in the app. Time Time Time is on your side then twisted away, down the echoing halls.

Here is a link to Moog’s site for more info.

V3P Soul

This piece was recorded by the Sloppy Heads in Brooklyn, NY.

It uses the unique and amazing and bizarre stretchy grid synth app called PASY 02 designed by Japanese designers Pankaku.

This app is a super simple gateway into early Terry Riley inspired drone pieces.

Highly recommended used with a sampling pedal or tape echo machine!

nsp harsh 1

This performance is an inspired and echoing improvisation by Miles Seaton from Akron/Family. Like chasing a bottle down an infinite stairwell.

He heard this App was designed by master Japanese noise-maker Merzbow, but we are still trying to find some details on that. Either way this piece sounds great. and noisy. Enjoy!

Noble Choir Fractal Improv

Rjdj is some sort of collective of European mad men that have started what they call a reactive music revolution.

People can create scenes that twist incoming sounds into alternate realities. These scenes are available for free or some for cost through Rjdj.  The idea is to use the Earbuds and mic that come with the phone, but running the BreakOut with a guitar can get some seriously strange and twisted sounds, or, scenes I suppose you’d call them.

Either way, this noble choir is a free scene and  is like and poor and lazy man’s Derek Bailey meets some John Cage Chance experiement. Ha!

Glee Guitar Melody
Glee Stomp and Strum and Slide

OMG! The Glee FI revolution.

When I first saw my parents watching this show, I couldn’t believe it. But I guess they aren’t alone. Well, I don’t watch much TV but the app is simply AWESOME.

Designed by the audio champs over at SMULE who bring all good things like T Pain and Sonic Vox. These guys don’t miss. This app sounds amazing with a mic, and equally incredible with a guitar.

Sampling of Sample Toy

Another Crowd Pleaser.

Sample Toy is one of the apps that seems to finally touch the iceberg of what is possible with a little imagination and some touch screen interactivity.

This one is built off a simple guitar sample and then turned and twisted and turned again.

Be prepared to lose an hour or two when you first plug into this app.

Fred _Sonic_ Vox

Another SMULE Gem. I really want to hang out with these guys and play some ping pong.

This one manipulates the incoming signal in multiple directions of pitch and effect. Kind of like a Jimi Hendrix whammy bar that goes in multiple directions, sometimes simultaneously.

And then there is some kind of Lion patch that turns your guitar into a large cat? Or a baby? Strange and wonderful.

Voice Band Sax Sound
Voice Band Flute Sound

THIS IS NOT A MIDI GUITAR

I love this app.

I never thought I would be so overjoyed to turn a guitar into a saxophone, but this one is pure joy!

No midi used. Just pure and simple saxophone guitar magic. Get this one going and prepare for your first ECM record.

Distort and Delay Spiral Echo Chops
D and D 8 Bit Riff

Distort and Delay is a great new app that looks almost as cool as it sounds.

Both the distortion and delay sound great on voice, guitar, and keyboard when used with the BreakOut.

This sound byte uses the 8 bit function on the distortion for some deep crunch.

Earth to RjDj 1
Glistening RJ Harmony

Join the revolution.

This glistening scene takes us somewhere into a NorthWest Earth Hex kind of place.

Maybe mix in a little gospel and a little dusty health food store and you have a sense of where this one may go.

This piece keeps a simple I IV V going to accentuate a little gospel in your scene.
